Mission: Prelude to Rebirth
Location: USS Firebird, Sickbay

[ON]

The meeting with the Captain had gone better than Emilynn had imagined it would. She knew this day would bring its challenges with all of the uncertainty it held. She had always been a planner. The person in control. The person who knew exactly what was expected of her and had mental lists where everything was completed in the most efficient order. Everything in her life served a purpose and fit perfectly into it, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. If she hadn’t known better, she would think she was part Vulcan. She snickered at the thought.

Today there was much to do in a very short amount of time. Emilynn entered sickbay hoping the intake physical would be quick and painless. She knew her settling-in period was limited and she really wanted to make it to her quarters before Lieutenant Woodhouse contacted her. She knew it wouldn’t be long before she had a growing list of tasks to complete, some of which might require looking up protocol. Looking to her left she saw medical bays where a few patients occupied beds and in front of her was the office of the Chief Medical Officers. She moved forward and introduced herself.

It wasn’t long before she was being examined by the doctor. They had received all her records already from the academy so the process took very little time. They asked about her family history, which was pretty straightforward given nearly all of her family were in Starfleet and their records were already in the system. Her brother had dropped out of Star Fleet in his second year and she had to inform them there was nothing new to report about his health that she was aware of. It had been some time since she had spoken to, or even seen him. She also reported she had a twin sister who had died at birth.

They then put her through several scans to document any abnormalities in her body composition and documented any distinguishing birthmarks or scars. The scans were quick and took images of the small scar on her ankle where she had been scratched by her cat as child, and then there was the white birthmark on her right forearm. The doctor had commented how the 21-millimeter, diamond-shaped, white birthmark was unique. She didn’t think much of it. It had been there her entire life and she hardly ever even noticed it.

Excited that was out of the way, Emilynn headed to her quarters to settle in.
