Mission:
Mission 1: A Long Hard Road Ahead
Location: USS Firebird, Spycave, Deck 5
Timeline: 23 August, 2396, 1115 Hours
[ON]
[Spycave]
The heart of the Firebird's data collection and intelligence ran through what the crew affectionately called The Spy cave, technically called the SCIF, which was tucked away and well hidden on Deck 5. All data that came into the ship was filtered through the independent computer system in the SCIF and parsed for any keywords on the intel-gathering list. That list was tens of thousands of words long. The system itself had been set up by Commander Han, when the Spy cave had originally been created. Currently, only five people had access: Commander Llwyedd, Commander Rees, Commander t'Aegis, and Lieutenant Smith and Emily Mox. The latter had been given access by Commander Han, which had never been revoked. Additionally, Petty Officer Lak had access to the spy cave's communications system.
=^=Lieutenant Smith, this is Petty Officer Lak, I have an incoming hail for you on a secured priority channel. There isn't any indication who the hail is from=^= Kipp said. It was clear from his voice that he wasn't pleased with the fact that he didn't know who was asking to be connected to the Lieutenant.
=^=Patch it through. Thanks, Petty Officer Lak=^= Jackson smiled as he sensed Kipp's displeasure. Jackson did wonder who would be on the other side, there was a good chance that Kipp would be even more displeased if he knew who it was. With his work with Zulg he had numerous contacts that would not meet Kipp's standards.
Jackson pulled up the screen and waited for the patch to come through.
The image materialized but the quality was low. It was nighttime, wherever the message was coming from and the terrain was urban. Tall buildings, square and triangle-shaped, rose up behind the lone figure in the middle of the screen. The figure was hunched over, its face concealed in a hood. Only its hands were visible and they were thin and white with long fingers, partially covered in dirt.
"Smith? Is that you?" the voice said in hushed tones. "Identification code, please. And hurry. I don't have much time."
"Alpha 7 3 1 Tango 1 2 0 Sierra 8 4 4 Delta 3, identification response?" Jackson studied the individual on the screen trying to gather any details to determine who or where this person was. Asking for an identification code, this implied SFI. Jackson's mind raced trying to figure out what was happening.
"Identity confirmed," the figure said. "Agent Sphynx, Identification Code Omega six nine Pharaoh one one. What you'll see on your screen is that I am a deep cover asset in the Gamma Quadrant. Commander Han sent me out over a year ago. Mostly I've been finding little bits of information for her about the deep quadrant races that we've had little contact with. A few weeks ago..." The figure stopped talking. Its head rotated back and forth, seeking something outside the field of vision of the camera. As the head turned, the figure revealed itself as a young human woman with pale skin and large eyes. When it turned back to the front, the face was once again hidden in shadow. "A few weeks ago I started hearing rumblings about some kind of council. A meeting between a bunch of these people. You have to understand that these are races that just have low warp capabilities. They generally have one or two planets to call home. Anyways, I was trying to get closer and find out what the meeting was about when they locked down the entire planet I'm on. Nobody was allowed to go anywhere."
A strange shuttle appeared above one of the buildings in the background. It was bird-shaped with long wings and heavy landing struts beneath it.
"Damn. They are tracing my message." The feed was filled with a hand. The voice continued to talk as the feed shook.
"What I've found out is that these people are all very angry at the Federation and they've decided to do something about it."
As the agent talked Jackson brought up the personnel record to verify what was being said. He took in the information. "Get to safety, as soon as you can confirm who is part of this alliance, find a way to get us that information. Be safe."
The figure's head bobbed. "Understood. Expect another transmission in seventy-two hours. Oh, and tell that yeoman to stop gatekeeping me. Sphynx out." The screen went blank.
Jackson leaned back in his chair. This was a lot to digest. Gotta love Commander Han, her forethought was going to save them. Jackson pondered the information he just received. Starfleet wasn't wanted in this sector. There could be multiple different species working against them. This was going to be a big mess and a lot of politics and espionage.
Good thing Leed was on board, maybe they could smooth things over.
Jackson tapped his comm badge, =^=Jackson to Petty Officer Lak.=^=
Kipp's voice came back immediately. =^=Yes, Lieutenant? How can I help?=^=
=^=Two things. First, anytime that individual hails us, send it directly to me with urgency. Second, get me a meeting with the captain and make sure Commander Leed is there. Thanks. =^=
=^=Aye, sir. I'll see when his next available slot is. And I've tagged the individual for expedited treatment. Lak out =^=
Jackson turned back to his console, he had a lot of work to do before meeting with the captain. He started to gather all the information he had on species around the station. He also sent a quick side message to Commander Leed to bring all information he had on species in that quadrant, specifically around the station, to their meeting. There was a conspiracy afoot, and they didn't have much time to figure it out.

My goal with this post is to add some intel to the current situation and lay the groundwork for a long-term asset and foil for Jackson. I also like adding in Yumi's continuing influence whenever I can.
