Personal log, Elias Ford
This is my last shift on the USS Horizon. A departure long overdue.
Lieutenant Lora presented herself in the sickbay, severe swelling of the throat and difficulty breathing. Diagnosis: allergic reaction. She refused to say to what. Treatment: 15cc of dinaproppaline. Kept overnight for observation.
Just when I was about to assign someone to look into her allergy, the answer came strolling through the sickbay doors. Her co-conspirator, Ensign Vlad presented himself with an active rapid degeneration of dermal tissue. Diagnosis: Edo protein supplement, causes swelling to internal tissue and degeneration to external tissue in humans. Treatment: 55cc trapezamine, dermal reconstruction. Kept next to his partner in crime as a parting gift from me.
As part of the treatment the Chief Medical Officer will give them a stern talking to on consuming alien concoctions and the immense responsibility involved into keeping healthy as part of their military bearing.
I do not envy him. In my medical opinion their cranial density is terminal.
This was one of those days on the Horizon, a day of bruises and bad decisions. Other days it just feels like the entire ship is leaking into this room, one patient at a time. Several if we're unlucky. We often are. This definitely was not natural, this ship is diseased to the core and someone has to get to the bottom of this. Thankfully it will not have to be me.
I wanted to get away from this ship for far too long and it looked like I was about to get my wish. Just 6 hours left.
