Mission: Mission 2: Echoes of the Dominion
Location: Bridge
Timeline: 30 March, 2394 - 1800 Hours

The bridge still smelled like blood and smoke. He could see Fantome's blood in the carpet. It looked like the outline of a dark, spindly tree. Everything was calm at least. The last of the medical personnel were gone, leaving Malcom alone with the Master At Arms.

"B'rala, how does this compare to a first assignment on a Klingon vessel?" I might as well learn a little about her until the rest of the command staff shows up.

The Klingon Warrant Officer smiled, showing off her sharpened teeth. "It is quite relaxing, captain," she said.

Stepping onto the bridge Karen couldn't help but yet again look around at the damage the battle had inflicted. While she normally had a soft smile on her face when she greeted people she now wore a tired and blank expression. She gave a curt nod B'rala and then looked to Malcom. "Captain."

Malcom looked over his XO with a professional eye. "XO. You look worse than the bridge. When was the last time you slept?" He held up a hand. "Don't answer that. You'll probably just try to tell me everything is fine and the ship comes before sleep." He waved her towards his ready room. "Ms. B'Rala, please tell the rest of the command staff that the XO and I will be in my ready room."

The ready room was in fairly good order. He'd never had time to add too much personal touch to it since his arrival. He moved the chairs back into their proper position and gestured for his XO to sit. He flopped onto the couch opposite from her.

"We are in some seriously deep poo-doo, Karen," he said.

Karen nodded slowly. "It would be fair to say we are up a certain creek without a paddle." She replied softly, She shrugged slightly as she took a seat with a sigh. "I don't suppose pretending it didn't happen is an option?" She added in her best attempt at humour.

Malcom smiled wryly. "I'm pretty sure that if I send a message to Starfleet Command, telling them that we are fine and nothing happened it will not go well for us. The truth is, there's a real possibility that this could cost me my command. It's usually frowned upon to let one person steal your ship our from under you. Especially when you knew there was a possible agent on board. Lieutenant Han is going to be in jeopardy as well. Her superior, Commander Ackboard, was already hounding me about her. When we are finished here, I'd like you to go check on her."

She nodded slowly. "I will do so." She replied she didn't like it but she would do it. She took a deep breath. "It happened on the Enterprise more than once, and that was the Flagship." She paused for a moment. "But I wouldn't ask for a raise anytime soon." She heard the door slide open.

Nici walked on to the bridge her head held low. There was damage throughout the ship and the main computer core was devastated. Power was being transferred around the ship haphazardly and Nici knew she had her work cut out for her. "Sir, Ma'am," Nici greeted her superiors. "This is a damage report for the entire ship." Nici handed a pad to the Captain. "Where do we start?"

"We start with you sitting down," Malcom said, pointing to the couch, leaving the last chair open for the chief. "We've got a lot of work to do but we aren't in danger of perishing. So let me get you a drink." He stood, weaved his way between the two chairs and walked over to his replicator. "I hope this works. What would you two like to drink?"

Karen looked up at Lieutenant Ina, given the responsibility of her position it was easy to forget she was only in her mid twenties, and she wasn't immune to the trappings of youth, always in a rush to get to what was next. She smiled slightly in greeting and then turned her attention to the Captain. "I'll have a coffee I think, white two sugars and a shot of hazelnut please."

"I'll take a raktajino," said Nici, "Thank you, Sir."

Luckily, the two drinks materialized normally. He leaned down and sniffed at them and their scent smelled right. He shrugged. It wasn't his fault if they ended up tasting like dirt or something worse. He walked over to the couch and handed the XO and Nici their cups. He sat down with a low groan.

"Ok," he said. "Now that we are all here and properly settled in, we have two questions to answer. First," he held up a finger. "How the hell did this happen. And second," another finger. "What does the crew and the ship need most right now. Thoughts?"

Nici didn't skip a beat, "Sir I really think we need to prioritize correcting power flow. With out it being regulated we are limping anywhere. I don't know how long we'd be able to maintain warp this way." Nici looked as her Captain, she didn't understand how through all this he remained calm and collected.

Karen looked up from thew coffee in her hand."Warp speed won't be an issue until the core has been returned to it's proper place, and I am not sure we should trust that all harmful programs have been purged from the computer systems just yet."

"Right. We will split it up into sections. I'd like the XO to check in with the medical staff and make sure they are getting all the help they need. We all know Dr. Haadok will never admit to anything being problematic so another pair of eyes on the big picture will be helpful. I am going to talk to Lieutenant Th'Kharia and get a grasp on the engineering challenges. Lieutenant Ina I'd like you to take point on the power distribution but also I need you to interface with the security team. With JJ out of commission, Ensign Zh'evhihloss might need guidance. Chief, I'd like you to do what you do best, keep an eye on the enlisted and let me know what thier concerns are." Malcom nodded to himself. "What am I missing?"

Nici thought what could be missing. The Captain had address the warp core, the injured, repairs to the ship, and the crew. "Fantome," said Nici. She had been so sure that he couldn't have been behind all this. Could she have been so naive and blinded. She had worked with the man and never once suspected he could betray the crew this way.

The captain grimaced. "Yes. I know that he will be with medical for some time but he needs security assigned to him at all times. Both for his safety and ours. He eyed his two command officers. "There will be time enough to answer my first question over the days to come. Keep me in the loop, alright?"

They both nodded.

This is a nice transition summarizing what we've just passed through and angling us forward from there. The description of the bridge was a great snapshot of what happened there not long ago.

Fantome may indeed need a guard for his own protection!

The little touch of Nici's feelings of betrayal by a man on her own team was a nice insight into her character, as was Myles' reluctance to check on Yumi, lol.
