(August 2018)

"Rhiana was everywhere this month. E Duobus Unum, War & Consequences, and the three-part Friends in High Places were all solid stories. Really great work."

"Rhiana wrote in six different JPs with at least eight other people. She did a great job writing really quality stuff. Plus, her involvement on slack is sometimes overlooked because of the timezone differences."

"I think Rhiana really did an outstanding job the last couple of months, hitting her stride with the character and being comfortable asserting herself with the crew. It's not easy having a character concept that constantly forces tension with every interaction but I think it is true to the Romulan personality and she does a spectacular job pulling it off."

"I really enjoyed learning about the resident Romulan this month. In the coming months I hope to learn more a develop a friendship. A very well written, well rounded character."

"The interlude and beginning of Mission 4 feel like Rhiana has really hit her stride and found her place here on the Firebird. I'm eager to read more about her and learn what makes her tick."

(August 2018)

"Friends In High Places was so well written and it's only part of the reason for the nomination. Rhiana played a role in several of the most enjoyable JPs last month. She's really upped her writing and brought everyone along for the ride."
Outstanding Post Outstanding Post

(August 2018) War and Consequences

"War and Consequences has my nom for outstanding post. It allowed very different viewpoints from several writers about difficult ideas, stayed afloat when it could have nosedived, threw in some humor, and has great potential to spawn more conversations between it's writers in the future"

"The writers managed to do the impossible in this day and age: discuss war in a way that includes believable viewpoints and soul-tugging observations from various ages, experience, and tragedies. (This is how Thanksgiving dinners and Facebook are supposed to go.)"

"A wonderful collaboration that was a nuanced conversation about a difficult subject. The tones of each character was true to them and the combination was an interesting melody. Well done!"

(September 2018)

Each month I give this award and I try to single out a person/ character who has embodied the things I am looking for in the best crewmember. Rhiana has been an outstanding addition to our crew since she joined. She's a unique character with a unique past. She has depth and intrigue and is a consummate professional in her duties as Chief Security/ Tactical Officer. I truly appreciate her personality. She is a Romulan. An incredibly believable Romulan. I love the way she is written on point all the time. Sometimes characters I write are not happy with Rhiana but that is a true response. I am excited to watch her grow over time. Additionally, Rhiana as a person is very active on Slack, despite our time differences. She is fun to chat with and is there for the early risers. Her stellar writing, interesting perspectives and outstanding contributions to our sim have earned her my Personal Merit for this month.

For 1 year of outstanding service aboard the Firebird.
Crew's Choice Award (Level 1) Crew's Choice Award (Level 1)
Awarded Wed May 15th, 2019 @ 9:21pm
Nominated by Commander Yumi Han
(February 2019) "We are blessed with a plethora of well written, well rounded characters on the Firebird. Rhiana is certainly one of those. However, she is more than that. She's a Romulan. Alone in a crowd, trying to find a place that she feels at home and not quite getting there. But she doesn't let that push her into giving up. She keeps doing her job. She brings unique perspective and dialogue. She makes decisions that are true to her background and somehow keeps surprising us. Her JPs are always a treat."

"First off in the simming community in general it is a fairly popular concept, a Romulan in Starfleet that is. But Rhiana handles that basic concept in a very unique way. She is not a fish out of water or Romulan simply biding time until the Empire can come back. She is a person who has embraces the Federation, but does it on her terms. Once more it seems that everyone on the crew has a unique respect for Rhiana both in character and out of character."

"Rhiana really dazzled me this month and has been a consistently great writer in this mission. She manages to keep herself in that strict alien mindset with very alien ideals and motivations, but so well adapted for our timeline and circumstances."

"This last mission was a great example of her writing. Her character is engaging and adds a lot to the story. Plus she is active on slack and always willing to be a part of the community."

"I wish there was a badass award. Rhiana just keeps hitting it out of the park."

"I like the ways that Rhiana surprises me as a character while staying true to herself. It's a good touch that Mel has handled well, and Mel as always is a steady presence on Slack."
Heart of the Tiger (Level 1) Heart of the Tiger (Level 1)
Awarded Wed May 15th, 2019 @ 9:23pm
Nominated by Commander Yumi Han
(April 2019) "I am submitting this nomination under the Captain's name, however, I would like to nominate the whole crew for this award. I feel that the Crescendo series of posts, as well as the post titled "Call In The Calvary", are great examples of what this award is supposed to represent. I know that the whole crew has contributed to those posts. The amount of suspense, combined with the action make the posts a joy to read over and over again."
Ribbon of Compassion Ribbon of Compassion
Awarded Mon Jun 3rd, 2019 @ 10:20pm
Nominated by Commander Yumi Han
(May 2019) "I know that the description of this award says that it is for those in the Counseling Field and that my nominee is not a Counselor, however, I hope that you will hear me out. I would like to nominate the post "Unnecessary Roughness" for this award. In Star Trek as in real life very often those who counsel us best are not actual counselors. This post shows a young woman who is mentally torn up by what she saw and did, and an older wiser woman who counsels in her own way. As I said in my comment on the post I suffer from PTSD and this post hits close to home. I know that a lot of times I do not wish to talk about it. Sometimes it is best to simply hit things. The exchange at the end of the post where Gia finally admits what is in her head "I did everything I could..." Rhiana offers words of consolation and perhaps absolution. I feel that even though Rhiana is not a Counselor this post showed us the compassionate side of the usually stoic smarmy Romulan."

(Mission 4) "And A Child Shall Lead Us"

You all know that Emily Mox is really a special character and the beginning of this JP is her taking on the encouraging friend. It was great to write with Gia, as she was still suffering through her trauma. Their escpape, unexpected encounter with lost friends, and continued flight, is truly a rollercoaster. The descriptions are excellent all around and the tension is high. And then... our Romulan friend showed up and showed out. Rhiana's ending to this JP really put it over the top.

Many congratulations to the authors of this JP. Your hard work and creativity are top notch and truly deserve this recognition, as do all of those who wrote for any JP on this top ten list.
